The Court's decision yesterday in Hamdan contradicts your main claim of rights being curtailed, at least in military justice and due process protections. The administration was checked by the judiciary. The separation of powers is alive and well. The Republic will survive.

Some good news I got this morning from Amnesty International. I want a swing on the hammer that's nailing the coffin lid closed, I don't know about you.

A small drop in the bucket of what needs reddressing, but I'll take it.

Another great post Ken.

***
Today marks a great victory for human rights and the rule of law!
The United States Supreme Court vindicated Amnesty’s long-held position that the military commissions were inherently unfair by ruling that President Bush did not have authority to set up the war crimes tribunals at Guantanamo Bay and found the commissions invalid under both military justice law and the Geneva conventions.
