Yeah, the lap-doginess of the Democrats following the elections of 2006 is a major reason for my mental malaise. We elected them to end the war, and to a lesser extent to impeach the criminal BushCheney regime. They have failed us miserably on both counts. We also elected them to reverse the damaging policies of the Repukes, and they may have done a few things, but not much I guess. They're more concerned with keeping their jobs than with doing their jobs. It's maddening, and terribly sad to watch the demise of our once-great country.

"What this government needs is an enema! Or at the very least a new breed of politicians with a spine, a sense of stewardship and service, and who aren’t for sale to the highest bidder."

Well, if the Press and Politicos quit pushing the idea that we only have two parties and that we are only safe voting for incumbents, then maybe you would get your wish.

But as long as we stick to this idea that we only have two viable parties and if we don't support the incumbents in the primaries we may lose to the "other party" in the general, we will never have a government with OUR interests in mind.
